Bohemian St. Pete Wedding
Monday, August 22nd, 2016Downtown Sarasota E-Session
Wednesday, March 20th, 2013The windiest day in Sarasota 2013: The gust were so strong we almost cancelled this shoot. But the lighting was so beautiful. What to do when your all dressed up and ready to have your photo taken but the wind is whipping around? Find the nearest tall building to block the wind. A really pretty vine covered building in downtown Sarasota. My secret hiding place. This is the always adorable Josh and Brittany who are getting married in 2014.
I love this shot.. no engagement session is complete without some nice shots of the engagement rings: Sarasota engagement photography
Green Weddings in Sarasota
Tuesday, October 5th, 2010Social Conscience Bride – Green Weddings (eco-friendly) are in for 2011! Brides are taking it up a notch with textured linens, organic makeup and vegan or organic wedding cakes and desserts. The recyclable wedding gown is eco-friendly hemp and organic silk. Location, location, location! When planning your green wedding or event, you should consider a few things before you decide upon a location. How many guests will you be having? Remember the fewer the guests, the lower the carbon footprint! What time of year is your wedding? Do you want an indoor event or a garden wedding? Casual or formal, or perhaps somewhere funky like a hip nightclub? Narrowing down what you want in a venue will alleviate a lot of unnecessary stress when you begin looking at venues.
One thing to consider is that if you have both your ceremony and reception at the same location, you will alleviate the need for your guests to travel to two different places. Look for locations that offer recycling of the empty liquor bottles. Look for locations that include table, chair, and linen rental, as this eliminates quite a bit of shipping and carbon production. One beautiful hidden gem (that is also very reasonable) located near downtown sarasota and the arts district is the Sarasota Garden Club as well as the prestigious Indigo Hotel. You won’t believe the beautiful retreat settings in Sarasota that are only 5 minutes from the airport!
Look for a garden setting if you choose an outdoor event. Look for one with either an inside option or a permanent tent. Look for one that already has tables and chairs for you to rent from the facility to prevent having to rent and truck everything in. One such treasure is Selby Gardens. The gardens is a beautiful historical landscape known for it’s beauty, orchid collection, banyan trees and bamboo. Also it’s the place where Marie Selby became the first woman to cross the country by car.. Try to find a location that incorporates at least a few Green practices into their operations.
If you do happen to have your heart set on a destination wedding, keep your guest count to a bare minimum and look for a place that offers green wedding packages. To find great eco-friendly hotels and accomodations check out EC3.
Wedding Favors – There are fabulous green favors to choose from and some websites where you can find them. I love the idea of planting a memory by planting a tree. There is even a website I found that has plan-table placecards and wedding invitations. You cannot get more environmentally friendly than that! Green Wedding Favors
Sarasota Caterer: Zest! Of Sarasota is Sarasota’s original green catering company.
Photographer: In addition to being digital, I try to make all my business decisions with green practices in mind. I have gone went completely digital and electronic by using electronic faxes, digital documents, even digital catalogs and magazine subscriptions. My Sarasota wedding photography company offers online digital proofs and they use recycled and recyclable papers and packaging when necessary. Look for businesses that work within “green” business perimeters.
Most of all, have fun and enjoy planning your Sarasota green wedding.
Destination Weddings, Sarasota
Tuesday, September 28th, 2010This is the most special moment in your life and you want to savor it. You want to commemorate by making the occasion unique and pleasant. You don’t want to go to the church in your locality and do it like the rest of your family members or your friends. You want to make sure that your partner (or rather, would-be partner) remembers and cherishes the moments throughout her lifetime. Yes, I’m talking of your wedding, guys.
The best way to do so is to go for a destination wedding and you know what it is. It is not a new term to you. You know what elopement wedding or wedding-moon is, don’t you? You have already made up in your mind that you want to travel to a beautiful location and celebrate your wedding ceremony over there and also, might continue with your honeymoon as well. It will be a small family affair and more opportunity to enjoy every bit of the moment.
Relax, enjoy yourself, and laugh! While some things may not go perfectly throughout the planning process and/or the wedding they are usually things you cannot control – like the weather! Let your specialist handle as much as you feel comfortable with – and more! Once you arrive on the island where you are to be wed, you will meet your wedding planner and be able to fine tune everything. The most important thing is to remember why you are getting married in the first place – your love for each other. Going with a Destinaition Wedding will be a truly memorable experience for everyone!
Siesta Key, Longboat Key, Lido Key, Casey Key and Manasota Key as well as Bradenton, Venice and Anna Marie Island, are all a part of this beautiful Sarasota community just south of Tampa.
Siesta Key is best known for it’s flour soft, white, “Top 10” beaches. The water is super clear too. You can still see your toes clearly when you are chin-deep in water! Siesta Key is also know for the “Broken Egg”, a wonderful place to have breakfast!
Longboat Key is ten-and-a-half miles long but narrow enough to see the water on both sides at the same time. You will find wonderful resorts, many catering to beach weddings there.
Venice Beach is known as the “Shark Tooth Capitol of the World”. I don’t know who appoints these titles but, they do have a lot of shark’s teeth! You can rent what is known as a “Florida snow shovel” to help you in your search for such a treasure.
Anna Maria Island is a gem. It is nine mile of pure heaven. It has everything you need and want in the way of activities and amenities yet it is calm and tranquil. If I were thinking about Sarasota beach weddings, I would consider getting married there. I’d stay at the White Sands Beach Resort and have the Sandbar cater my event!
Anyway, take your time, browse through the vendors specializing in Sarasota Beach Weddings, I am certain you will find the perfect spot for your beach wedding! For Elopement and Destination Packages, I highly recommend working with Sand Petal Weddings. All the images on this page where photographed by myself and all the decorations, set and coordinating was designed by Sand Petal Weddings
